About Us
KHai Research Lab is an AI research and commercialization hub affiliated with Kyung Hee University. We bring together university AI research labs and industry partners in one shared space to accelerate close-knit industry–academia collaboration, technology transfer, and the commercialization of cutting-edge AI research.
What We Do
Industry–Academia Co-Research Acceleration
We operate a dedicated joint-research space at the Pangyo Vision & Innovation Campus, where university researchers and partner companies work side by side. In cooperation with the university’s AI research institute and graduate AI programs, we run joint research projects across AI healthcare, AI semiconductors and physical AI sensing, agentic AI, LLM/VLM-based AI solutions, and AI for aerospace.
Technology Transfer and Commercialization
We identify promising AI technologies developed across the university, match them with real industrial demand, and drive licensing, spin-offs, and product development that individual labs would find difficult to pursue on their own.
Startup Incubation and Regional Industry Support
We provide AI technical support and incubation for startups and companies located on campus, along with upskilling programs for AI practitioners in the region.
AI Immersive Education
We offer extracurricular, hands-on AI immersion programs for undergraduate and graduate students, developed together with leading cloud and AI platform providers.
Group Internship Programs
We run structured group internship programs that connect students with partner companies, creating real-world research and industry experience.
Why KHai
Conventional venture capital and incubators have limited capacity to understand and discover state-of-the-art AI technologies. KHai Research Lab combines in-house AI R&D capability with active technology scouting, so we can discover, develop, and commercialize AI technologies directly rather than waiting for them to emerge on their own.
Technology
Sensory Systems for Physical AI
KHai Research Lab develops the sensory system of Physical AI devices: the technology that lets robots and embodied agents perceive the world the way living beings do. We fuse haptic, visual, inertial (IMU), LiDAR, and other sensing modalities into a single, unified perception stack, so that a device can touch, see, balance, and map its surroundings at once. Our sensor-fusion architecture is designed to run efficiently on edge AI hardware such as NPUs, delivering real-time, low-latency perception without relying on the cloud. The result is a complete “sense” layer that any Physical AI device can be built on, from robotic manipulators and mobile platforms to wearable and healthcare devices.
